Mentor Series - Worldwide Photo Treks!

Sweden  | 2006

In Summer 2006, the Mentor Series team journeyed to Sweden, the so-called “Land of the Midnight Sun,” where snow-capped mountains framed a rich and varied landscape for our trekkers to photograph the magnificent palaces, ancient fortresses, and delightful Scandinavian traditions that have been preserved since the age of the Vikings.

From the narrow cobbled streets and gabled medieval buildings in the old towns, to the striking masterpiece of 20th century architecture of the Stadshusent, the city of Stockholm offered our trekkers a rich blend of history and modernity.

Our private motor coach transported participants from one breathtaking view to the next: the intricate Baroque façade and looming towers of Kungliga Slottet, Storkyrkan—the oldest building in Stockholm, Svenska Akademien—the Royal Academy of Literature, and Borsen—the famous stock exchange building.

From Sodermalm, our shooters had an expansive view of the central city and port of Stockholm from the Southern Island, with small ferryboats and fisherman dotting the foreground, all pre-arranged by our Mentor Series team.

From there, the private coach heads North into the Swedish countryside, stopping first in Sigtuna, Sweden’s oldest town with its traces of the Vikings and the Norse religion.  Next, a ferry ride delivered us to Visby, the “City of Roses,” with its remarkable views of the Baltic Sea, gorgeous botanical gardens, and the mysterious medieval town itself, surrounded by a mighty wall.

For the explorers in the group, the adventure continued to the stunning Lummelunda caves along the beautiful Baltic coastline.  Here, we captured the natural wonder and beauty of rock formations, deep caves, and fossil remains.

Trekker George Sheer said the following: “The trip exceeded my expectations in every area. Please keep me posted on future treks, and if I don’t have a conflict in my schedule I’ll be sure to do more.”
